What was originally a 50th birthday celebration in 2017 (and may become an annual event) was repeated with a group including several DVCC members. With families and children of all ages we decamped in February to Maspolomas in the south of Gran Canaria, Spain.
All cycling rides, though the dramatic and often challenging scenery, were followed by rigorous rehydration and refuelling in an ‘all-inclusive’ hotel. As with any DVCC ride all abilities were catered for, including two riders on eBikes.
With wet & windy weather in the preceding and succeeding weeks we were blessed with almost perfect weather for 10 days and enjoyed most of the classic climbs in the south of the island including Soria & Serenity, and the spectacular but accurately named ‘Valley of Tears’ – it’s called that for a reason!
